Video: Temuramah RTM Isu Hudud

Hi YB

Hmmmmm, I think we need to have more info, perhaps PAS can do a series and put it up on YouTube?
Something erm, easy to watch not just "talking heads"...
Anyway, does it mean that under Islamic law, non-Muslims will be under Muslims?
I know it's academic but...
I have to say I'm quite disappointed that PAS din hold any Christmas celebration as even Pak Lah met with the Council of Churches.
I know we are a minority and our vote doesn't count for much, I guess.

Hi Jed,

Actually we had a function on the 27th at the Curve. It was held by PR Selangor. Normally for all the religous celebrations we do it under PR except of course for Hari raya which PAS being an Islamic party does hold it on its own. I did attend the function at the Curve, a bit late at around 9.30 or so but did meet teresa, Xavier, TS Khalid and the rest there.

I will have to discuss the idea of having the other religious celebrations hosted by PAS; it sounds a bit peculiar though. An islamic party hosting celebrations for Deepavali, Christmas and etc? We do however donate for these functions to be held by the religious groups within our constituency and thought that, together with PRs function should suffice.

On the question of under Islamic law will non-Muslims be under Muslims, the answer is no. The law operates like any other legal system and all are equal under the law. There was a case in the time of Caliph Ali when he claimed that his body armor was taken by a Jew. The Jew claimed it was his and they both went to court. Although Ali was the caliph at that time and the judge obviously knew Ali and believed that he would not lie but the Judge asked Ali for proof or a witness who could prove that the armor was his. Ali had no proof and the only witness was Hassan, his son. The judge of course had to reject the testimony of Ali's son as being his son he was not independent and as such passed judgement in the favor of the Jew. Ali was upset but understood that in presiding over the case the Judge had to follow due process and base judgement on proof as presented. As posession is proof of ownership unless otherwise proven, Ali commended the judge on his judgement. Although it was wrong it was the correct judgement based on evidences presented. It was Ali who was unable to prove his case.

The case proved that everyone is equal in the eyes of the law and there is no preferential treatment for Muslims over non-Muslims, not even for the Caliph.

Kisah Raja Najashi

Keadilan Saidina Umar Al-Khattab Terhadap Rumah Ibadah Agama Lain

Tetapi Umar menolak cadangan
